This practice mode for SMITE allows player to try item builds and practice abilities- either solo or with a team- against the enemies found in the Conquest game mode. This includes a number of buff camps, practice minion waves, and enemy AI gods.
Similar to how the Tutorial was developed, I used a radial plan to optimize the use of space and allow players to move from one area to another without horribly long travel times. Each segment was set dressed similar to the way the camps appear in the Conquest game mode, to help make them be easily recognizable to players. At the entrance of each area, I also added a small wall; an icon and UI alert explains what buff or encounter is available at each location, and the wall also helps to offer line-of-sight blocking to improve rendering.
The spawn area offers the in-game item shop. In the middle of the spawn is a decorative volume that allows players to quickly add levels to their character, all the way up to max level.
On the whole, this was a simple and supplemental map for the game, but it allows players more flexibility in trying new things outside of actual matches.
